  • 40% of genes known to be associated with human diseases have orthologs in the C. elegans genome and many signal transduction pathways have been found to be conserved between C. elegans and humans. This makes it a viable system to study the effect of such genes on various cellular and molecular pathways.
  • You can freeze the worms and then defrosted and revived them when needed. This makes it available to easy transport for a far distance or storage for a very long period of time.
